CONVERSE PRODUCT (RED) - 1HUND(RED) Artist #45 - United Bamboo All-Star

Number 45 on the CONVERSE PRODUCT (RED) roster is the new collaboration with fashion label United Bamboo. Established in 1998 by designers Thuy Pham and Miho Aoki, United Bamboo (or UB for short) long been a “hidden secret” among trendsetters in New York City and Tokyo. Trained as fashion designer (Aoki went to New York’s F.I.T.) and architect (Pham went to Cooper Union), the duo pushed the envelope of possibilities by seamlessly merging the 2 distinctive design forms with projects such as their Tokyo flagship store, created by avant-garde architect Vito Acconci to a recent ad campaign with the irrepressible Terence Koh.

For the PRODUCT (RED) edition, Thuy Pham looked towards the turn of last century for inspiration. Pham gathered reference of works, particularly those from the late French artist Sonia Delaunay and the Orphism art movement, which focused on vibrant colors and geometric forms. The result is a quilted canvas upper in circular dimple silhouettes. To keep with UB’s tradition, an all white colorway was applied with a slight hint of color in the thin red logo strap by the ankle. As with al CONVERSE (RED) merchandises, 10% of the proceeds from each sale will go to PROJECT (RED), the global fund in the fight against AIDS, TB, and Malaria in Africa.

The United Bamboo x CONVERSE PRODUCT (RED) 1HUND(RED) Artist Edition is now available at selected CONVERSE retailers and CONVERSE official online store.
